Lake Garden KL

Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day. It was raining all day. We had to cancel our plan for a visit to the Deer Park and Orchid Garden at the KL Lake Garden. Since I do not have a plan B, we spent our time indoor and being lazy at home.
But here are some photos when we last visited the park in October 2010 (The Deer Park was closed then as the whole park had underwent a renovation which was only completed last December).

Books

"Yes, she shops. Yes, she  does  crazy things.  But she makes me laugh. She makes me enjoy life. And I love her more than anything else in the world." Luke to Becky.
Oh! How romantic. It's an excerpt from Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic and Baby. I've just completed reading one of her novels and I found that many of my friends have read most of her books. For the past 2 years I have been busy with my economic books, exams, projects and assignments that I don't have the luxury of time to read novels (I am expected to complete my Masters by end of the year). It is one of my new year's resolutions to read as many books as I could (I've started reading a third novel for the year). I think I should turn that little corner of my bedroom into a reading nook where I can spend hours reading (or blogging).

Kelip-Kelip Trip, Kuala Selangor

Last weekend, we were invited by my sister-in-law to visit Kuala Selangor which took us about one and a half hour driving from our place. I never knew that Kuala Selangor has some tourist attractions. We stayed in a floating chalet where the kids enjoy feeding fish and tortoise just outside the room.

At around 9.30 pm, we took a boat from the resort's jetty to experience Kuala Selangor's biggest attraction, the firefly watching. We were cruising along the riverbank in darkness and not long after that, we were greeted by thousands of fireflies or locally known as kelip-kelip. It was fascinating to see those tiny lights on the trees along the riverbank (No kidding, the trees look like Christmas trees).

The next day we went to Kuala Selangor Nature Park to observe wild animals like monkeys, crabs, birds, lizards at the wildlife sanctuary of Kuala Selangor (we were also accompanied by a lot of mosquitoes).

After a few hours of nature walk, we took a tram up to the historical Bukit Melawati and fed some long-tailed macaques and silverleaf monkeys there. As we arrived at the top of the hill, one of the monkeys ran after my daughter. She was running in circle until she realised that she has to drop the plastic bag full of bananas that she was holding. It was hilarious!

We had good seafood for lunch before heading back to KL.

Dinos Alive in KL

I think the released of the movie Jurassic Park in 1993 made dinosaurs become so popular (I remember watching the movie at the cinema). This time is dinos alive in KL. My son was all excited after knowing that life size exhibit of dinosaurs are on display at Pusat Sains Negara. Since today is a public holiday, we took a few hours of tour of the exhibition at the national science centre.

All excited

Toy Story Theme Party

The kids love the Toy Story so much. Even my youngest one knows some of the characters. Since they were so crazy about the Toy Story, Qistina and Irfan's previous birthday party was based on the Toy Story theme. I ordered the cake from Zurina's Cakes (she makes great cakes) and did all party decorations myself. It's one of my favorite birthday parties.

Back to Nature

I can't believe that weekend is over. I need more weekends. For me, weekends should be the most enjoyable days for kids as they spend most of their time at school during weekdays (I'm sure kids enjoy their time most during weekends with parents).

Since my kids enjoyed their last trip climbing the Broga Hill, we took them to the forest reserve park (FRIM) for a back-to-nature experience. We took the Rover Track (an hour of walking and hill climbing) and ended our journey at the waterfall. We had a good time!
